Dhingali Maari Hala

The title is in Gujarati. My first toy is a doll and I used to nurture her. I am sharing a Gujarati “હાલરડું” (Lullaby)…. ઢીંગલી મારી હાલા

Transliteration:

Vaadalanu to paaranu baandhyu, ne tarani hinchka dori (2)
Chandamama laad ladaave pari raani gai lori

Sooy jaavo mara dhingali bena, raat have padavaani (2)
Nani nani aankho meechi, neendar lejo majaani
Hala, hala, hala re…
Neendariye re podhine tame,pavan paankhe oodajo (2)
Pankhiyona meeta meeta geeto tame soonjo
Hala, hala, hala re……

Translation:

Hush, hush, hush-a-bye, go to sleep my dolly
Hush, hush, hush-a-bye
I’ve made a cradle from the clouds
And a string of stars to swing it with
The moon shines down lovingly whilst the fairies sing a lullabye
Hush, hush, hush-a-bye ….
Go to sleep my precious dolly
The night is about to fall
Close your little eyes and fall fast asleep
Hush, hush, hush-a-bye ….
In your deepest slumber,
Fly away on the wings of the gentle breeze
And listen to the song of birds so sweet
